This policy explains what information Bankio collects when you use bankiofinance.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect only what you give us or what is needed to run your account:
Account details: your username, email address and password. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash, never in readable form.
Profile details: your full name, phone number, address, preferred language and profile picture, if you add them.
Identity verification: your full name, date of birth, address, the type of ID you use, photos of the front and back of that ID, and a selfie. You may also choose to provide your Social Security number.
Loan applications: the amount, term and purpose of the loan, details specific to the loan type, your employment status, employer, job title, income, housing and debt payments, supporting documents you upload, and your Social Security number if it is not already on file.
Account activity: balances, transaction history, deposit, transfer and withdrawal requests, the destination details you enter for withdrawals, and notifications we send you.
Support and contact: support tickets and replies, messages sent through our contact form (name, phone, email and message), and live chat conversations.
Technical data: your IP address, which we hold briefly in memory to limit repeated sign-in and sign-up attempts, and the sign-in cookie described below.
How we use your information
To create and operate your account and show you your balances and activity.
To verify your identity and review loan applications.
To process deposit, transfer and withdrawal requests you make.
To send you service emails, such as email verification, password resets, receipts and updates on your requests or support tickets.
To answer your questions and support requests.
To protect your account and our service against fraud and abuse.
To meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run Bankio, and only as far as they need it:
Hosting and database providers, which store your account data.
Cloudinary, which stores the ID photos, selfies and documents you upload.
Our email delivery provider, which sends our service emails.
Tawk.to, which runs the live chat on our website.
WhatsApp, if you choose to contact us there. WhatsApp handles those messages under its own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Bankio, our users or others.
Cookies and third-party content
We set one essential cookie, bankio_session, when you sign in. It keeps you signed in, cannot be read by scripts on the page, and expires after 7 days or when you sign out.
Our live chat is provided by Tawk.to, which sets its own cookies to run the chat. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and icons from cdnjs (Cloudflare); these services receive your IP address when your browser requests those files.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
How we protect it
Passwords are hashed, the sign-in cookie is protected from page scripts, and access to identity documents and Social Security numbers is limited to authorized staff who review verifications and applications. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. After you close your account, we may keep some records for as long as needed to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and prevent fraud, and then delete them.
Your choices and rights
You can view and update most of your profile details from your dashboard. You can also ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it and close your account, by emailing [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep some records where the law requires it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.
Children
Bankio is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will let you know by email or in your dashboard.
